WASHINGTON — A United States State Department official is facing charges of obstruction of justice and making false statements to the FBI.
The investigation is reportedly related to surveillance conducted under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Reuters broke the news: The employee, Candace Claiborne, works in the State Department office that handles Caucasus Affairs, government records showed. One official said the charges are expected to include lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
