NEW YORK — A NYPD Police Officer was shot Tuesday evening in Harlem and has since died from the injuries, according to local reports.

The police officer was shot in the head and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

From PIX11: The shooting happened on the FDR Drive at 120th Street at the edge of the Wagner Houses. The officer, who is a housing impact officer, was on duty and chasing a suspect when he was shot.

The officer of the 23rd precinct was transported to Harlem Hospital where PIX11 has learned that he is in stable condition. A police officer on the scene tells PIX11’s Magee Hickey, “he’s going to make, he’s going to be OK.”

Police recovered two firearms — a semi-automatic handgun and a revolver — at 120th Street and FDR Drive, Newsday reported.
