NEW YORK — NYPD Sgt. Joel Doseau has been found dead of apparent suicide. This comes after he was arrested for the rape of a minor.
43-year-old Doseau was discovered with a plastic bag over his head at his parent’s home in Canarsie.
According to the NY Post: “A hose attached to a nearby butane tank fed gas into the bag, asphyxiating the [Officer]..”
An investigation into his death is ongoing. The NYPD hasn’t publicly commented on the incident.
At approximately 8:00AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 in the confines of the 94 Precinct in Brooklyn, on-duty NYPD Sergeant Joel Doseau was arrested.
43-year-old Doseau was arrested on several charges, including the rape and sexual abuse.
From CBS2: …the sergeant met the girl when she was 15. It was not clear how long the relationship lasted, but it dated back to 2008 and involved only the girl, sources said.
The sexual performance charge is the result of the girl allegedly sending Doseau inappropriate pictures, sources said.
Doseau, who reportedly earned $101,000 last year with the NYPD, met the girl online when she was 14 years old. He allegedly lied about his own age online, and she sent him nude photographs.
The charges are as follows: Rape (7 counts) – Use a child under 17 (1 count) – Child under 17 in sexual performance (1 count) – Promote sexual performance (5 counts) – Sexual misconduct (11 counts) – Act in a manner injurious to a child under 17 (3) – Sexual abuse (11 counts)
