WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A student was fatally shot at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem on Wednesday. The 911 calls came in around noon local time causing a massive police response.
The suspect fled and remains at large. At a press conference, police said they were still working to identify the suspected shooter.
“Mount Tabor High School is on lockdown,” the Winston-Salem Police Department wrote in an alert shortly after the incident. “There has been a shooting on school property. We and the WSPD have secured the campus and are doing everything possible to keep students safe. We are actively investigating what happened and will share confirmed information when available.”
