Sonic Boom Rattles Residents of Queens

NEW YORK CITY — Residents in Queens flooded the NYPD with phone calls reporting an explosion-like sound Wednesday afternoon.

According to WABC, FDNY and NYPD have found no evidence anything actually exploded in the area.

An NYPD Chopper was overhead and reported no smoke in the area.

The Port Authority later confirmed the noise was a sonic boom caused by two F-22 aircraft.

Air Force One was being escorted over JFK.

No injuries were reported.
