CALIFORNIA — UPDATE: Shortly after 12:30 p.m. today, Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy) was arrested at UCLA’s Acosta Athletic Training Complex on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, which was a kettlebell.
No one was seriously injured and UCPD is investigating. Combs is expected to be transported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center later this evening.
Football coach Jim Mora issued the following statement:
“I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”
EARLIER REPORT: Music Mogul Diddy was arrested on Monday after getting into a fight with a UCLA football coach, University of California Police say.
According to reports, Diddy was watching his son Justin Combs at a football practice, and afterwards went up to a particular coach who was yelling at the young defensive back for the Bruins.
Diddy allegedly grabbed the coach, assaulting him.
From TMZ: — “Diddy has been arrested for allegedly getting into a fight with a football coach at UCLA … where his son is on the team, TMZ Sports has learned.
We’re told Campus Police took the music mogul into custody early Monday afternoon. Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, is a defensive back on the team. We’re told the fight went down at the UCLA athletic facility.
One source says an assistant coach was screaming at Justin on the field. At some point later we’re told Diddy confronted the coach and grabbed him. Diddy was arrested for assault.” —
Diddy is still being held in the campus jail.
Combs, a 5-foot-7, 170-pound redshirt junior, played in a combined seven games for the Bruins over the past two seasons as a reserve in the secondary. He also played special teams. He has four career tackles.
