Sheriff’s Deputy Shot in Tennessee

Dearborn Police Officer was patrolling the area of Tireman and Greenfield when he observed a man who was known to be wanted on a probation violation warrant, and who escaped from officers earlier in the day after committing a larceny in Dearborn.

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. — A Sheriff’s deputy in Tennessee was shot Wednesday while attempting to serve a warrant.

Officials arrived at Old 31 East in Bethpage around 6 p.m. to serve a search warrant.

According to local reports, a man exited the home and opened fire on the deputies.

One Deputy was struck in his bullet-proof vest and taken to the hospital with a possible broken rib, WKRN said.

He is expected to survive. The suspect was taken into custody.
