An armed man was shot dead by NYPD Officers in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon.
The incident unfolded at around 4:00PM at 890 Belmont Avenue near Milford Street in the East New York section of Brooklyn.
According to the NYPD, officers from the “anti-crime” division attempted to question a man with a gun. The man fled on foot, and while being chased – turned his weapon at the officers behind him. Officers opened fire, striking him multiple times.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The NYPD says that a gun has been recovered at the scene.
One officer suffered minor injuries during the foot pursuit and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
An investigation is underway by NYPD Detectives.
