‘The North Face’ Co-Founder, Doug Tompkins, Killed in Accident

CALIFORNIA — Doug Tompkins, the Co-founder of the clothing brand The North Face, was killed in a kayaking incident in Patagonia, Chile.

According to KGO, the 72-year-old businessman was with a group of other paddlers when at least six people capsized their Kayaks.

Tompkins died of hypothermia in the hospital, the report said.

He was an American conservationist who co-founded and ran two clothing companies: the outdoor clothing company The North Face; and with his then-wife Susie, the ESPRIT clothing company.
