A mother from Britain has been found guilty of taking her toddler to Syria to join ISIS. Tareena Shakil, 26, fled to the war-torn country in October 2014.
She initially told her family members she was taking a vacation to Turkey. She was found guilty of terror offences at a court in Birmingham.
Shakil has become the first British woman to be convicted after returning from Syria.
The court then heard how Shakil posed her toddler for pictures wearing an ISIS branded balaclava. Shakil denied the charges, she claimed she traveled to Syria because she wished to live under sharia law.
She was then found guilty of being a member of ISIS and actively supporting people to commit acts of terror.
Shakil told police that she was kidnapped from a beach by a man in Turkey and sent to Syria to send out propaganda tweets.
In court she then changed her story. Detectives believe that she was married to an ISIS fighter that bad within weeks.
