Calif. Woman Shot And Killed Standing Inside Her Home; No Arrests Made

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — A little after 12:40 a.m. on February 23, 2016, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received 911 calls regarding shots fired in the 3800 block of Galbrath Drive in North Highlands.

Deputies responded to the residence and located a 23 year old female victim inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Deputies immediately began life saving measures. Sacramento Metro Fire responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene. There were others inside the residence when the shooting occurred, but nobody else was injured. Preliminary investigation shows the suspect fired from outside the residence, striking the victim. It is unknown whether the suspect was in a car or on foot.

There were two children and two other adults inside the home when the shooting happened, according to KXTV. This shooting comes after a string of nearly half a dozen shootings in Sacramento on Monday, the report stated.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene, and are in the beginning stages of the investigation. There are no known suspect descriptions or motive at this time.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, after notification has been made to their next of kin.
