Christmas Morning Argument Leads To Shooting

BALTIMORE — A man was injured early Christmas morning after an altercation escalated into gunfire.

Police were called to the 8300 block of Pleasant Plains Road in Precinct 6 at 3:22 a.m. Sunday morning after an argument between two acquaintences outside of a residence resulted in a struggle, ending with one man shooting the other man.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, was struck in an upper extremity and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

He is expected to survive his injury.

The suspect, identified as Purnell Samuel Summerville (34) of the 1700 block of Waverly Way in Baltimore City, has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, 1st and 2nd Degree Assault and Firearms charges. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
