Cleveland, OH – Last Wednesday, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Michael Sheppard, 43. Sheppard was wanted by the East Cleveland Police Department (ECPD) for homicide.

According to ECPD, on September 16, 2022, Sheppard and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation near a home in the 1800 block of Garfield Rd. Sheppard then struck the victim with a beer can. The victim was found days later deceased in his apartment after a welfare check.

Members of the NOVFTF began working the investigation shortly after a warrant was issued for Sheppard’s arrest. Sheppard was also featured at the fugitive of the week earlier this month. Today, investigators were able to locate and arrest Sheppard at a home in the 9500 block of Detroit Rd. in Cleveland.

U.S. Marshals Pete Elliott stated, “The violence perpetrated by offenders such as this will not be tolerated by our community members, or our law enforcement partners. We will work together with both to ensure that those who commit violence are removed from the community as quick as possible.”
