TEXAS — A teenager who was arrested when a teacher thought his homemade clock was a bomb says he was publicly mistreated and is demanding $15 million from taxpayers, attorneys for the boy said.

Ahmed’s lawyers sent letters Monday demanding $10 million from the city of Irving and $5 million from the Irving Independent School District, CBS news reported.

The statements also threaten lawsuits and seek public apologies.

Ahmed Mohamed, aged 14, became an overnight sensation and ended up getting all kinds of privileges following the mix-up by his teacher in Texas.

His sister tweeted a picture of him in handcuffs in September and the story went viral worldwide.

His family was overwhelmed by offers to support Mohamed’s education and decided to move to Qatar after receiving a full scholarship for his secondary and undergraduate education, his father told the Dallas Morning News.
