Colorado Springs Middle School Teacher Accused of Possessing Child Pornography, Arrested

The Colorado Springs Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) received CyberTips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). During the course of the follow up investigation, detectives learned that a 44 year old Colorado Springs male was in possession of child pornography. Detectives further learned that the male was a Colorado Springs School District #11 teacher.

On January 26, 2018, detectives arrested Mike Hedges without incident. He was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a Class 3 felony. Hedges was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center with no bond.

According to KKTV, Hedges teaches 6th grade science at Russell Middle School.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is comprised of 61 task force lead agencies with more than 3,000 affiliated agencies. The Colorado Springs Police Department is the lead task force for the State of Colorado.
