Andrew Luck will remain an Indianapolis Colt through 2021 after signing a new six-year contract with the team on Wednesday. Colts owner Jim Irsay made the announcement on Twitter.

The terms of the contract have not been confirmed by the team, but according to several reports, Luck will rake in a record-setting amount of money.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that the deal includes a “5-year extension (6-year deal). Just north of $139 million (a record). $87 million in guarantees (a record).”

This salary would make Luck the highest-paid NFL player, topping Joe Flacco’s $22.1 million per year with the Baltimore Ravens.

“I am thrilled and excited to continue with this great organization,” Luck said in a statement released by the Colts (via NFL.com). “I am thankful to the Irsay family and Mr. (Jim) Irsay for providing me with this great opportunity and the trust that they’ve shown in me. I can’t wait for this season to start.”

Luck has played four seasons with the Colts since being drafted No. 1 overall in 2012. He started all 16 games his first three seasons, making the playoffs in each of those years. Rib and kidney injuries held Luck to just seven games played last season – and without its star quarterback, the team missed the postseason.
