Miami Township, Ohio — On November 1, 2022, Miami Township Police Officers officers were dispatched to Valencia Drive about 1 p.m. for a stabbing. The officer found the victim, 58-year-old Melissa Amburgy, who’d been stabbed numerous times.The suspect, later identified as her son Joshua Amburgy fled the scene as officers and detectives converged on the scene. As officers were searching for Amburgy, they received another call that he was on the back patio of a residence on Geneva.
A detective and an officer responded and found Amburgy with a knife on the patio. As the officers were trying to get him to drop the knife he charged the detective. The detective fired two shots hitting Amburgy with one round. The officer fired his Taser missing Amburgy.
The officers rendered aid to Amburgy applying a tourniquet until the medics arrived. Amburgy was transported to the University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical where he is in serious condition. Melissa Amburgy died Tuesday at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
