Convicted felon arrested after woman shot multiple times in south Nashville

NASHVILLE, TENN. — Convicted felon Jonella Hambrick is charged with attempted criminal homicide after she allegedly shot a 22-year-old woman during an argument Wednesday evening in the 100 block of Charles E. Davis Boulevard in the J.C. Napier public housing development.

Hambrick, 41, and the victim, who both live in separate apartments in J.C. Napier, were reportedly in a heated argument when Hambrick pointed a gun at her. According to witnesses, when the victim attempted to walk away, Hambrick fired a shot toward her. During an ensuing struggle over the handgun, the victim was struck multiple times. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she continues to recover from serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Hambrick, who has previous convictions for cocaine possession, aggravated assault, and theft, was taken into custody a short time after the shooting. She is being held in lieu of $80,000 bond.
