Deadly clashes between die-hard Zamalek football fans and Egyptian security forces broke out on Sunday at the entrance of the Air Defence stadium in Cairo, where the team was due to play.

At least 14 people were killed. The clashes began when some fans tried to enter the stadium without tickets, according to local reports.

Zamalek fans, known as “White Knights,” posted on their group’s official Facebook page that the violence began because authorities only opened one door to let them in.
