On Saturday, a Norfolk Southern train derailed in Springfield, Ohio, which was the second such incident to occur in the state in just over a month.

County officials requested residents living within 1,000 feet of the location to take shelter while investigators assessed the contents of the train.

According to Norfolk Southern spokesperson Thomas A. Crosson, the derailment occurred around 4:45 p.m. and involved 20 of the 212 cars on the train. There were no injuries reported, and no hazardous materials were involved.

Although Clark County initially issued a shelter-in-place order, it was lifted the next day.

County officials disclosed at a news conference that the train had four tankers containing nonhazardous materials, including two with diesel exhaust fluid and one with polyacrylamide water solution, both of which are common industrial products transported by rail.
