TEXAS — The Austin Community College Eastview Campus was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after reports of a man armed with a gun nearby.
Austin Police have deployed a SWAT team to the area of the incident, near the intersection of Tillery and Neal streets.
According to local reports, a gunman is in a field near the school threatening to kill himself.
Students and staff at the school are told to remain indoors.
From KEYETV: Nearby Govalle Elementary School is in ‘reverse evacuation’ due to the SWAT incident. That means that no one is allowed in or out of the school but all activity continues as normal within the school.
The Austin Community College District is a multi-campus community college system serving the Austin, Texas metropolitan area and surrounding Central Texas communities.
