TUCSON, Ariz. – Pima County Sheriff’s Deputies were on scene of a critical incident near Palo Verde Road and Julian Drive Thursday evening. The scene is near Interstate 10 and Irvington Road.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. local time, the unidentified deputy was found in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition where he was undergoing surgery.
Officials provided no suspect information but stated there is “no current danger to the community.”
Residents were being asked to avoid the area.
