Officer Shot In Mount Vernon, WA; Public Urged To Stay Indoors | Developing Story

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Authorities say a police officer has been shot and wounded about 60 miles north of Seattle in Mount Vernon.

Authorities are asking local residents to stay away from the area. Skagit Valley College has gone into lockdown.

The wounded officer, a 30-year veteran of the force, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center early Friday morning. Mount Vernon Fire Chief Bryan Brice told the newspaper he didn’t know the condition of the officer.

The SWAT team and a dozen police cars are on the scene
