According to prison union official Joe Rojas, Larry Nassar, the disgraced sports doctor convicted of sexually abusing female gymnasts, was involved in an altercation with another inmate at a federal prison in Florida on Sunday.

Rojas stated that Nassar was stabbed multiple times, including twice in the neck, twice in the back, and six times in the chest, resulting in a collapsed lung. Nassar is reported to be in stable condition.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that an inmate was assaulted at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex on Sunday afternoon but did not disclose the identities of the individuals involved.

According to the Associated Press, who cited sources, Nassar was attacked after he “made a comment about wanting to see girls playing in the Wimbledon women’s match.” It was unclear what specific remark was made.

Prison staff administered life-saving measures, and the Nassar was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

“No staff or other inmates were injured and at no time was the public in danger. An internal investigation is ongoing,” officials said in a statement.

Nassar was sentenced to hundreds of years for his crimes.
