McKinney, Texas — On July 13, 2015 at approximately 11:35 p.m. the Collin County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Texas Parks and Wildlife Dive Team recovered a body believed to be that of 37 year old JaJuan Dawson from Lake Lavon. The body has been released to the Collin County Medical Examiner for positive identification.

JaJuan Dawson went missing in Lake Lavon after he fell off an inflatable tube being towed by a boat on July 12, 2015.

Dawson, a former NFL player, was on a rented boat with three children and two other adults when he fell into the water Sunday evening near Clear Lake Park, family said.

The boat was rented from a marina on Lavon Lake and is now docked behind yellow tape.

Dawson was not wearing a life vest Sunday night during a family outing.

It is not entirely clear what happened to Dawson when he plunged into the lake. Authorities do not suspect that alcohol played a factor in his disappearance.

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound receiver from Houston’s Bourgeois High School played for Tulane before entering the NFL.

Dawson spent the 2000 and 2001 seasons with the Cleveland Browns and 2002 with Houston. He had 52 catches for 664 yards and two touchdowns.

JaJuan Dawson was a wide receiver in the NFL. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 3rd Round of the 2000 NFL Draft with the 79th Overall Pick.
