Suspect in Jessup shooting found dead of apparent suicide

MARYLAND — Howard County police were notified this morning that a man who was a suspect in a double shooting at a truck stop in Jessup yesterday was found dead in Prince George’s County this morning from an apparent suicide.
Jacinto Del Prado, 52, of Greenbelt, was struck by a train and killed around 7 a.m. in Lanham. Howard County police had obtained an arrest warrant for Del Prado overnight for shooting two men—killing one and leaving the other in critical condition—at the truck stop on Assateague Drive yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called to the shooting scene around 1 p.m. Sunday and located one adult male victim deceased and another injured, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The deceased has been identified as Chad Dewayne Daniel, 44, of Wesley Chapel, Fla. The injured victim, Warren Anthony Weeden, 57, of Baltimore, was transported to Shock Trauma, where he is currently in stable condition.

Preliminarily, police believe Del Prado went to the truck stop to confront a man about a domestic matter. However, detectives suspect that Daniel and Weeden may have been shot in a case of mistaken identity. Howard County police are working with Prince George’s County police and the investigation is ongoing.
