This is the scene from within a crammed Paris hospital as surgeons battle to save the lives of countless victims of Friday’s cowardly terror attacks.

The dramatic photograph, taken at St Louis Hospital, shows doctors working in crammed conditions after 132 people were killed.

Describing the scene in hospitals across the city, Philippe Juvin, head of emergency services at the Georges Pompidou hospital in Paris, said: ‘People were shot in the arms, legs, the thorax and their chest. You can not imagine the psychological trauma as well. It is difficult to explain but many of the patients were silent when they arrived despite their injuries.

‘It’s not like in a movie when you see all the people crying. It’s absolutely not the case. Patients arrived in ambulances and nobody spoke.’

The image was released as the mother of one of the Paris bombers claimed that her son mistakenly blew himself up because he was ‘stressed’.

She added that Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, ‘did not mean to kill anyone’ when he blew himself up at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe near the Stade de France injuring 15 people.

A third son was arrested and later released without charge.
