On August 13, 2015 at 2:30PM officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the Garden Ranch YMCA in regards to an adult male taking pictures with a cellular telephone inside the boy’s locker room.

The suspect was photographing male children under the age of 16 in various stages of dressing and undressing.

Detectives with the Special Victims Section Crimes Against Children’s Unit responded to investigate the allegations.  Detectives completed a search warrant for the suspect’s cellular telephone and computer equipment and electronic media located at his residence.

During the ensuing investigation it was learned the suspect had frequented the YMCA five times in the past week.

On Friday additional warrants were executed to search the electronic media recovered from the suspect.  Detectives with the Computer Forensic Team and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit assisted in execution of the warrants.

Detectives were able to establish probable cause for an arrest warrant charging 72 year old Robert Dolan of Colorado Springs with Sexual Exploitation of a Child (production) a class 3 felony, Sexual Exploitation of a Child (possession) a class 6 felony and Invasion of Privacy for Sexual Gratification a class 6 felony. These charges carry no bond until Mr. Dolan goes before a judge.  Mr. Dolan was taken into custody at 4:30PM.

This is still an active investigation.  Detectives continue to examine recovered electronic media.  It is anticipated there will be additional counts of these felony charges.  Detectives are trying to contact parents of potential victims.  The staff at the YMCA has been working very closely and cooperatively with the police department during this investigation.   The police department will notify parents or guardians of potential victims with the assistance of the YMCA. At this time all of the victims appear to be juvenile males.  The process of actually identifying victims could be lengthy.
