Tuesday’s crucial midterm elections will determine which party controls Congress — and voters will send a message about their approval of President Trump.
Leading up to the elections, several states reported record early voter turnout.
All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate are contested. In addition, 39 state and territorial governorships as well as numerous other state and local elections are also contested.
Democrats need a net gain of 23 seats to win control of the House. In order for Democrats to take the U.S. Senate, they will have to win Republican-held seats and defend Democratic-held seats in states President Trump won in 2016.
