JACKSON, Miss. – A man suspected in the killing of a pastor while on the run after escaping from a Mississippi jail has been killed in a shootout with police.
22-year-old Dylan Arrington, along with three other inmates, escaped from the Raymond Detention Center on Saturday night.
Arrington was believed to have fatally shot a pastor on Monday night after the pastor pulled over to help Arrington after a motorcycle wreck.
The pastor was identified as Anthony Watts, 62.
Authorities received information that Arrington was in the area and he was involved in a shootout with police at a Leake County home, which also caught fire during the gun battle. A deputy was wounded in the exchange of gunfire.
The other three inmates who escaped with Arrington have not been recaptured.
