CANADA — Evacuations are underway in multiple areas of Fort McMurray, Alberta as wildfires engulf roadways, officials say.
Hundreds of firefighters are battling the blaze that has been burning since the weekend and claim they are ‘making progress.’
Residents of Abasand, Grayling Terrace and Beacon Hill are now under a mandatory evacuation order. Residents are directed to proceed to Macdonald Island Park, where evacuee reception is set up.
The area from Real Martin Drive to Thicket Drive, south of Thickwood Boulevard, is under voluntary evacuation notice and residents should be prepared for a mandatory evacuation order within 30 minutes.
