NEW JERSEY — MAYS LANDING –A Port Republic man has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
Brian McSee, 53, of Port Republic, pleaded guilty today before Judge Donna Taylor to second degree Endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct. In accordance with the plea, McSee will serve five years in New Jersey State Prison, be required to register as a sex offender pursuant to Megan’s Law and be subject to Parole Supervision for Life upon release from prison.
The New Jersey State Police arrested McSee, on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, for allegedly sexually assaulting an underage male student. McSee was charged with sexual assault, official misconduct, criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
During a week-long investigation, troopers discovered McSee was the victim’s 7th and 8th grade choir teacher at Port Republic Elementary School. He also served as choir director at the victim’s parish, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. McSee has remained detained at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, following a December detention hearing before Judge John R. Rauh.
Following McSee’s arrest detectives from the Special Victims Unit of the ACPO continued the investigation contacting local organizations where McSee was associated.
“Both school officials and members of the church were very cooperative. There was no evidence that anyone in either community had any knowledge of McSee’s acts prior to his arrest,” said Chief Assistant Prosecutor John Flammer who represents the state.
McSee is scheduled to be sentenced on May 4, 2018 before Judge Donna Taylor.
