An explosion sent customers running at the Polaris Fashion Place Mall in Columbus on Mother’s Day.
Police say a liquid nitrogen blast is to blame.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang that sounded like gunshots and people screaming ‘active shooter.’
Sgt. Dana Hess was off-duty shopping at the mall when the explosion happened — right next to her. She says a teen put nitrogen in his soda and it exploded. He suffered only minor injuries.
Police Commander Gary Cameron tweeted, ‘Kiosk at Polaris Fashion Place had a nitrogen mishap. That’s it. Keep on shopping. Happy Mother’s Day. ‘
