SAN JOSE, California — The FAA says five people died when a small plane crashed in Bakersfield Saturday night.
The flight departed Reid-Hillview Airport is San Jose and was headed to the Henderson Executive Airport near Las Vegas.
ABC7-BayArea reports: “The single-engine Piper PA32 disappeared from radar at about 4 p.m. about 10 miles south of Bakersfield, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.
A neighbor describes what he heard when the plane went down near Bakersfield. “It was an extremely faint thump, nothing else. I was actually expecting something really loud and since I heard a very faint thump, I actually thought
nothing had happened. For some reason, in my mind, I thought it was fake. It was just really weird,” witness Jose Sanchez said.
A sheriff deputy on scene says that the plane may have had kids on board and that the family is from Gilroy.”
