Christopher Wray, the head of the FBI, has issued a concerning alert regarding the escalating number of terrorism threats against the United States. His primary concern is the potential for individuals acting alone to carry out attacks mimicking the tactics employed by Hamas.

During his address at the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police in San Diego on Saturday, 56-year-old Agency Chief Wray urged law enforcement agencies to exercise heightened vigilance, particularly in light of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“History has been witness to antisemitic and other forms of violent extremism for far too long,” Wray said. “We remain committed to continue confronting those threats.”

Wray’s message, as reported by an FBI transcript, emphasized the persistence of antisemitic and various other forms of violent extremism throughout history. He reaffirmed the FBI’s commitment to combat these threats.

Wray added, “In this heightened environment, there’s no question we’re seeing an increase in reported threats, and we’ve got to be on the lookout, especially for lone actors who may take inspiration from recent events to commit violence of their own.”

Director Wray’s warning coincided with the declaration of a “Day of Jihad” on October 13 by former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal.
