Early Tuesday morning there was an explosion in the Kingsbridge area of the Bronx.
Battalion Chief Michael J. Fahy, a 17-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and a devoted father of three, was killed.–more than a dozen others were injured.
WABC reported: “At 6:22 a.m., firefighters responded to a gas leak in the house. At some point, an illegal drug lab was detected and police were called.
Police say the house exploded afterward but it wasn’t immediately clear what caused the blast that killed Fahy.”
Chief Fahy served as a Firefighter beginning in 1999, was promoted to Lieutenant in 2004, to Captain in 2007 and to Battalion Chief in 2012.
