Federal Agent Says ISIS Supporting Iraqi Refugee Planned To Bomb Texas Malls

An Iraqi refugee is now facing multiple charges after he attempted to assist ISIS, he was denied bond after a federal agent testified against the man.

U.S. investigators became interested in Omar Faraj Saeed Al-Hardan in 2014 after they discovered he made multiple purchases on eBay for components to detonate homemade bombs.

Omar came to Texas in 2009 from Iraq, he was indicted on three charges.

The charges include attempting to assist a terrorist organization, he has pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

The U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes announced there would be a serious public risk that Omar would flee if he was granted bond.

Homeland Security Special Agent Herman Wittliff said: ‘He wanted to build them (the transmitters) for ISIL,’ Wittliff said.

‘For what purpose?’ asked prosecutor Ralph Imperato.

‘So he could kill people,’ Wittliff replied.

If convicted, Al Hardan faces up to 25 years in prison.

More than 75 U.S. residents radicalized by Muslim militants have been arrested since 2014.
