EDINBURG, Texas- United States Customs and Border Protection is coordinating the temporary deployment of an additional 150 agents to 150 Agents to deploy to Rio Grande Valley Sector to assistRio Grande Valley Sector in light of recent increases in apprehensions along the southern border.

Illicit networks facilitate the majority of cross-border activity and smugglers prey on migrants by extorting money, confining them in deplorable conditions, and often physically and sexually assaulting them. Despite these risks, migrants continue to entrust their lives each day to these unscrupulous criminals.

The additional agents are detailed from Tucson, San Diego and Del Rio Sectors to the McAllen and Weslaco Centralized Processing Centers to increase the capability to screen, classify, and process undocumented migrants, primarily unaccompanied children (UAC) and family units (FMUAs).”
