SAN DIEGO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry Monday apprehended a fugitive with an outstanding felony warrant for kidnapping, with bail set at $1 million.
On Feb. 10, at about 3:30 p.m., a 50-year-old male U.S citizen entered the port driving a 2004 Ford Ranger with a male passenger. A CBP officer queried both travelers’ information in law enforcement databases and was alerted to an active warrant for one of them. Both men were escorted to a secure location for further investigation.
CBP officers confirmed the identity of the driver, Javier Martinez Jimenez, and that he was wanted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in California for kidnapping.
Jimenez was taken into custody and later booked into the San Diego County Jail to await extradition.
The passenger, a 45-year-old U.S. citizen, was released north into the United States.
