NEW YORK — A plumber has admitted to rigging up an illegal gas siphoning system moments before the East Building explosion on March 26th.

According to the New York Post, investigators believe the plumber removed the set-up before an inspection and re-installed the illegal tap minutes before the explosion occurred, killing two people.

The suspect told investigators the landlord’s son instructed him to do it.

It’s not clear what charges the plumber or landlord will face. An investigation is ongoing.

Surveillance video from a business across the street shows the moment an explosion rocked an apartment building in the East Village.
