MANHUNT ON: Florida Deputy Shot

Hillsborough County, Florida — A manhunt is underway after a Deputy was shot while responding to a ‘shots fired’ call around midnight.

When Deputies arrived to the scene, a gunman opened fire, one Deputy was struck in the thigh. The incident occurred between Greystone Road and Hershey Road in Thonotosassa, Florida. Deputes fired back and the suspect fled.

It’s unclear if the suspect was shot.

The Deputy was treated for his wound and released.

From WTSP: Greystone Road is currently shut down as deputies continue to search the area. K9, foot patrol deputies, and aviation units are all lending hand in the manhunt. Deputies say the gunman is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Residents at a nearby duplex are being told to use caution as they leave for work this morning.

Deputy Ranney started with Hillsborough County Sheriff Office in 2009 as a detention deputy and later joined patrol units in 2014.
