HILLSBOROGH, Florida — On August 12, 2015, at approximately 12:32 pm, detectives and deputies assigned to Patrol District II located an occupied stolen vehicle in the IGA parking lot located at 14720 Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard). The stolen vehicle was a black 2006 Audi A6 and was reported as stolen on August 12, 2015 at 6:00 am.
Deputies attempted to make contact with the driver within the parking lot; the driver of the stolen vehicle put the car in reverse and rammed the Sheriff’s Office vehicle that was positioned behind it. The stolen vehicle fled within the parking lot and hit an unoccupied parked car. Deputies attempted to position their vehicles to box in the stolen vehicle when the driver put the vehicle in reverse and rammed the front of a different Sheriff’s Office vehicle.
The suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. A short time later, the HCSO helicopter pilot located a vehicle matching the description in a ditch at the intersection of Turkey Creek Road and Holloway Road. Deputies made contact with and arrested Aaron Pegg, the passenger, within 100 yards of the vehicle. Investigators are following up on leads to identify and apprehend the driver of the vehicle.
