Florida Woman Fighting For Her Life After Being Set on Fire; Boyfriend Sought

North Lauderdale, FLA. — Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are trying to locate the suspect responsible for the attempted murder of a woman in North Lauderdale on Monday morning.

Around 4:30 a.m., Broward County Regional Communications received a suspicious incident call near the 4300 block of Northwest 54th Street in North Lauderdale. When deputies arrived, they located a woman who stated that she was intentionally set on fire by her boyfriend, Noe Jimenez-Cortes. Jimenez-Cortes fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival. The woman was transported to a local area hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Crime scene and special victim’s units were notified and are investigating a motive. Deputies say  Jimenez-Cortes poured an accelerant on the victim’s body and ignited the fire with a cigarette.
