Pyongyang — At least 200 foreign journalists who are in North Korea for its ‘national day’ on Thursday were told to prepare for a “big and important event.”
The ‘Day of the Sun’ would have been the 105th birthday of North Korean founding president Kim Il Sung.
Tensions among the United States and DPRK have escalated due to Kim Jong Un’s Nuclear program exercises.
North Korea has vowed to retaliate with a “powerful force of arms” in response to the US deployment of a Navy strike group to the Korean peninsula.
Reuters reported: Officials gave no details as to the nature of the event or where it would take place, and similar announcements in the past have been linked to relatively low-key set pieces.
