A choir instructor, Olivia Ortz, was detained on suspicion of having sexual contact with a minor in Pennsylvania. The former Wilmington Area High School teacher is charged with several felonies. These include institutional sexual assault, illegal contact with a juvenile, and criminal use of a communication service. She was later freed on $150,000 bail. One could say all their BetAmo casino winnings were basically spent on bail.

The New Wilmington Police Department became involved in the Ortz case on April 18. This happened after the administrator of the student’s school, Wilmington Area High School, called. According to a news statement, Ortz’s husband contacted the school after returning home from a school trip to Florida. He reportedly discovered proof that his wife, Olivia was having an improper connection with a 17-year-old student.

According to Chief Carmen Piccirillo, Ortz’s husband reportedly discovered a letter delivered to Ortz by the pupil on an iPad. Piccirillo noted that both worked on theatrical performances in the school system. “He was definitely shocked. He was aware she was underage, and he is a reporter. As a result, he does the right thing. The next Saturday, he approached the school principal.”

The teenager first denied having sexual contact with the instructor. But authorities say she subsequently acknowledged it. “The student claimed that at first, she regarded Olivia Ortz as a ‘safe adult’. It later developed into a love relationship,” according to the statement.

According to the student, she was invited to Ortz’s house in Sharon on April 7 when Ortz’s spouse was out of town. According to the statement, she told officers she stayed the night and engaged in sexual activities. After her spouse learned of the alleged sexual interaction, the student said she returned to comfort Ortz. Police executed search warrants at Ortz’s house, as well as on her smartphone and iPad, on May 5.

Olivia became aware of the ongoing police investigation and potential accusations against her, according to the announcement. “Rather than breaking off communication with the implicated teen, the two continued to speak via the Spotify music service.”

Piccirillo claims that they spoke by going into a specific playlist under each of their public accounts and leaving notes for each other. “They were confident that no one would notice. They devised a code phrase in case things went wrong or they were detected.”

According to the document, well over 100 messages were uploaded on Spotify between May 10 and May 11. Piccirillo contrasted Ortz’s alleged activities to other fraud cases he worked on. On May 25, a preliminary hearing is planned.
