A man who posted an ad for gay sex on Craigslist was kidnapped by a teenager who threatened to ‘cut his di*k off’.
Mitchell Hall, 19, replied to the 51-year-old man’s advertisement online that was seeking a sexual encounter with another man in Darwin, the NT News reports.
Hall was waiting with a beer when the man picked him up from Winnellie after midnight on January 25 and drove to nearby Fisherman’s Wharf.
The court heard Hall pushed the knife into the man’s groin and threatened to ‘cut his d*** off’ after logging on to the victim’s bank account and realising he was $7,000 in debt.
Hall jabbed the man with the knife, punched him and called him a ‘f****t’.
The man only managed to escape when his abductor stabbed the knife into the roof of the car allowing the victim to punch him in the face.
He tore a ligament in his knee and fractured two toes and his wrist as he made he escape.
Hall, who then proceeded to set the car on fire, admitted to the charges of aggravated robbery, unlawfully cause serious harm, deprivation of liberty, demand with menaces, car theft and arson.
‘Your conduct was quite bizarre,’ Chief Justice Trevor Riley told Hall in court.
‘The victim described the ordeal as ‘sheer terror’… (Hall) has shown no remorse or insight.’
The court heard the attack was not fuelled by drugs or alcohol.
He was sentenced to five years and eight months in jail over the attack.
