NEW YORK — On Wednesday August 12th around 2 pm a 40-year-old male exposed himself to a female victim in the rear car of a southbound #3 train.

The victim tried to flee when the train pulled into the Bergen Street IRT station but the suspect grabbed her and attempted to pull her back into the train.

Maurice Osborne, a nearby 37-year-old man heard the victim’s cries for help and came to her aid. He was able to stop the attack and subdue the assailant after a physical altercation.

Responding Transit District 32 police officers arrested the suspect who was later charged with Attempted Rape, Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault and Public Lewdness.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene while Mr. Osbourne was removed to Methodist Hospital for his injuries.

Maurice Osbourne was honored for his actions by Transit District 32 at the 78 Precinct Community Council meeting on Tuesday September 29 and received a plaque. -NYPD
