Governor Jerry Brown has now declared a state of emergency in San Bernardino on Friday evening to help the community recover from the terror attack on December 2nd.

The declaration orders the California Department of Public Heath to assist within the county’s health services division until it can resume normal staffing on its own.

The Office of Emergency Services will also provide assistance to San Bernardino County under the California Disaster Assistance Act. Any fees involving death records for the victims in the terrorist attack will be suspended.

Fourteen people were killed and 22 were injured when shooters Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik opened fire during a holiday banquet at the Inland Regional Center. The couple was later killed during a police shootout less than a mile away from the center.

The governor says responding to the attack is beyond the means of any local government.

Such declarations are typically issued after natural disasters such as wildfires or flooding.

Sayed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 of his co-workers at a holiday gathering before they died in a gunfight with police on Dec. 2.
