Joanne Chesimard, a.k.a. Assata Shakur, is on the FBI’s most wanted list and has been on the run for the murder of NJ State Trooper Werner Foster since 1973.
Gov. Chris Christie asked President Obama to work to bring back Joanne Chesimard.
Chesimard escaped from prison and eventually ended up in Cuba, where she was granted asylum by Fidel Castro and has been living under the name Assata Shakur.
“Despite my profound disagreement with this decision, I believe there is an opportunity for Cuba and its government to show the American people it is serious about change,” Christie said in the letter.
