TEXAS — An American Airlines flight made an emergency landing at El Paso International Airport Monday afternoon.
“Flight 3880 is returning due to a possible mechanical issue. Our maintenance team will review the issue once the aircraft is back on the ground,” American Airlines said in a statement to KVIA.
Flight 3880 was seen circling the airport before the attempted landing, a measure often used to burn off extra fuel. The flight later landed safely.
The aircraft departed El Paso en route to Chicago around 1:00 p.m. local time.
No injuries were immediately reported.
